Sounding Urban Places

Last year, I applied for a call by JPI Urban Europe on ‘Urban Transformation Capacity’, together with Stefan Östersjö (main applicant, Lulea University of Technology), and building on the experience of Justin Bennett, artist-researcher in my research group at the Royal Conservatoire, Marcel Cobussen (Leiden University), Soundtrackcity and I’m Binck. In October, we got the good news that an international committee had selected our proposal as one of five European projects. We still had to wait for final approval from the funding agencies, but this month, we can actually start Sounding Urban Places, an arts-based research project, building on community engagement in data collection and artistic co-creation with a focus on sound.
